Ex-Saw Doctors drummer Johnny Donnelly has been running marathons since he was 13. One of the marathons he ran last year was the famous ‘Two Oceans Marathon’ in Cape Town, South Africa which actually runs past the Niall Mellon township.

Wearing an Irish jersey Johnny was amazed to be greeted with chants from about 500 families shouting 'Thank you for our homes, you have saved our children…’ These families were shouting this at Johnny because they recognised the Ireland shirt. It touched Johnny's heart and at that very monent he decided that he would do something for them. Hence ‘The Hot & Cold Challenge’.
